Sober October Day 13

Well I have missed a few days here. I didn’t want to allow that to happen but here we are. Sundays I try to reserve only for family and church obligations. Monday, we had a bit of a SNAFU with getting podcast uploaded. Yesterday, I just plain woke up late and had to make the decision between writing this journal or getting my run in. Sorry guys, but running won out.

So I did fall off the wagon but just for a bit. I had some cereal on Tuesday night. No excuses I just lacked some discipline there. I was disappointed in myself for a bit, but then I realized that was not serving me well at all. I need to recognize that error, give myself some grace, and move on to continue to strive for perfection in this endeavor going forward.

Another day another calf

I realize that I will never be perfect in anything that I do. However, that does not mean that I can’t do my best to strive for that. We will never be perfect on our own. One of my favorite scriptures comes from Paul’s epistle to the Philippians in the New Testament.

” Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3 12-14)

We will never be perfect on our own. That is what simply makes us mortal. But through the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can be perfect. For we labor diligently to write, to apersuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by bgrace that we are saved, after all we can cdo. (2 Nephi 25:23)

I didn’t begin this blog today with the intention of sharing scripture with you. But truth be told, it is through the help of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that I am able to obtain all the things I strive for. I am so blessed that I have the support of my Savior in all I do. I am nothing without Him and owe everything to my Heavenly Father.

I’m always impressed by my friend Clay Conry, host of the Working Cows Podcast when someone gives him a compliment. He always thanks the person giving the compliment, but then acknowledges that all that glory should go to God. I’m going to do my best to follow Clay’s example and always acknowledge the influence the Savior has in my life.
